Cookies

Our website uses so-called cookies. These are small text files that are stored on your end device with the help of the browser. They do not cause any damage.

Necessary cookies

These cookies on our website include the technically necessary session cookie. The session cookie assigns a unique, randomly generated value to the website visitor. This value is necessary for some functions, e.g. for sending forms. This is because spam bots, which automatically send spam, often do not process cookies and are therefore unable to send forms.

These cookies do not contain any personal data and are deleted after the browser is closed.

Manage and delete cookies

If you want to block or delete cookies, you can make these changes in your browser settings. To manage cookies, most browsers allow you to accept or reject all cookies or to accept only certain types of cookies. You can also set your browser to ask you each time a website wants to save a cookie. The procedures for managing and deleting cookies vary depending on which browser you use. To find out how to do this in a particular browser, you can use the help function integrated into the browser.

Web analysis

Each time you access our website, your computer (end device) transmits the information listed below in particular to our web hosting provider kabelplus (kabelplus GmbH, Südstadtzentrum 4, 2344 Maria Enzersdorf) to enable you to visit the website.

  • The website from which you access kabelplus websites (so-called referrer information)
  • Your public IP address
  • The time of access
  • The request of the web browser (requested website name including optional query parameters)
  • The response code of the kabelplus server
  • The amount of data transferred
  • Information on the browser and operating system used

No other user data is stored together with this data.

These data are so-called log files, which are deleted at regular intervals, but at the latest after 6 months.

This data is absolutely necessary in order to be able to access the website, so there is no possibility of objection on the part of the user.

HTTPS - SSL/TLS certificate

The website uses an SSL certificate from Sectigo Ltd (26 Office Village, Exchange Quay, Trafford Road, 3rd Floor, Salford, Manchester M5 3EQ, United Kingdom) to transfer data between the user's browser and the web server in encrypted form. This serves to ensure that transmitted information cannot be intercepted or viewed by third parties.

When our website is accessed, a connection is established to the Sectigo Ltd server in the United Kingdom in order to verify the identity and validity of the certificate key used. This confirms the identity of the website operator.

RSFirewall

We use the Joomla component RSFirewall on our website to protect our website from hacker attacks.

If a hacker action occurs, e.g. an attempt to log in to the backend or infiltrate files, this is recorded by the component in the system logs locally in the Joomla installation on the web hosting server.

The IP address, the event date, the URL called up and a description of the attack as well as a categorisation of the severity of the attack are recorded.

The data is not passed on to third parties, it is only used to trace attacks or to be able to block IP addresses that trigger repeated attacks.

The data is then automatically deleted after 30 days.

We use RSFirewall on the basis of legitimate interest in order to protect our website as well as possible from attacks and thus also our visitors from potentially infiltrated malware.

Privacy policy for Facebook & Instagram

We use the technical platform and services of the network Meta Platforms Inc, Deborah Crawford 1601 Willow Road Menlo Park, California 94025, USA, and Meta Platforms Ireland Limited (4 Grand Canal Square, Grand Canal Harbour, Dublin 2, Ireland) is responsible for the European region. We also operate a page on the Instagram platform, which is also operated by Meta Platforms.

We operate these pages to report on JITS and the projects and to promote fundraising campaigns.

We would like to point out that you use the Facebook pages and Instagram page operated by us and their functions on your own responsibility. This applies in particular to the use of the interactive functions (e.g. commenting, liking, sharing, rating). Alternatively, you can also access the information offered via these pages on our website at http://www.jits.charity

When you visit our Facebook pages and Instagram pages, Meta Platforms collects, among other things, your IP address and other information that is stored on your PC in the form of cookies. This information is used to provide us, as the operator of the Facebook and Instagram pages, with statistical information about the use of the Facebook and Instagram pages. Meta Platforms provides more information on this under the following links: https://www.facebook.com/help/pages/insights and Instagram Insights.

The data collected about you in this context is processed by Meta Platforms and may be transferred to countries outside the European Union. What information Meta Platforms receives and how it is used is described by Meta Platforms in general terms in its data usage guidelines. There you will also find information on how to contact Meta Platforms and on the setting options for adverts. The data usage guidelines are available at the following links:

Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/about/privacy

Instagram: https://privacycenter.instagram.com/

When you access a Facebook or Instagram page, the IP address assigned to your end device is transmitted to Meta Platforms. According to Meta Platforms, this IP address is anonymised and deleted after 90 days. Meta Platforms also stores information about the end devices of its users (e.g. as part of the ‘login notification’ function). This may enable Meta Platforms to assign IP addresses to individual users.

If you are currently logged in to Facebook or Instagram as a user, a cookie with your Facebook or Instagram ID is stored on your device. This enables Meta Platforms to understand that you have visited this page and how you have used it. This also applies to all other Facebook and Instagram pages. Facebook/Instagram buttons and plugins integrated into websites enable Meta Platforms to record your visits to these pages and assign them to your Facebook or Instagram profile. This data can be used to offer you customised content or advertising.

If you wish to avoid data transmission, you should log out of Facebook or Instagram or deactivate the ‘stay logged in’ function, delete the cookies on your device and close and restart your browser. In this way, Facebook or Instagram information that can be used to directly identify you will be deleted. This allows you to use our Facebook or Instagram pages without revealing your Facebook or Instagram ID. If you access interactive functions on the site (like, comment, share, message, etc.), a Facebook or Instagram login screen will appear. Once you have logged in, Meta Platforms will again recognise you as a specific user.

Information on how you can manage or delete existing information about yourself can be found on the following Facebook support pages: https://www.facebook.com/about/privacy

We would like to point out that if you contact us via a private message on our Facebook or Instagram pages, this will result in data processing. We will delete your data as soon as your enquiry has been conclusively answered and there are no statutory retention obligations.

We have only linked the icons, i.e. images, from Facebook, Instagram and YouTube on our website. However, no data is transferred as a result. Only by clicking on the icons will you be taken to our respective profiles on the social networks.

Your rights

In principle, you have the rights to information, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability, cancellation and objection. We will fulfil every request regarding the protection of your rights without delay, at the latest within the legally prescribed period of 1 month. If you believe that the processing of your data violates data protection law or that your data protection rights have been violated in any other way, you can lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority. In Austria, this is the data protection authority. Barichgasse 40-42, 1030 Vienna, Tel +43 1 52 152-0, eMail: This email address is being protected from spambots.
